Candied Pecans

Equipment

  • Candy thermometer
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Large Saucepan

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cup Pecan halves
  • 1 tbsp Softened butter
  • 2 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 250°F. Line a shallow cookie sheet with parchment paper. Place pecans on parchment paper and spread out evenly. Put pecans in preheated oven for 10 minutes. Take 1 tablespoon butter and spread on the sides of a large saucepan. Add sugar, salt, water and cinnamon- cook on low until sugar is dissolved. Leave on medium heat until it reaches 236°F. Remove the mixture from heat and stir in vanilla. Next, add the warmed pecans and stir to coat. Return coated pecans to cookie sheet with parchment paper and bake for 30 minutes; stir every 10 minutes. When done, please on new wax paper/parchment paper to cool.
