This Japanese inspired quarter sawn white oak coffee table is truly one of a kind. The entire table was made from the same tree with quarter sawn ray fleck visible throughout. Hand-cut through tennons in the base make it so that the entire table can be taken apart (if needed) as there are no screws or nails in the table.
Available in black walnut, white oak, white ash, maple, and black cherry. Custom sizes and other details available please enquire for more information. We hand build each piece in approximately 12-14 weeks (rush orders are possible in certain cases).
Camille Warmington –
Hoener Farms created an exquisite quarter sawn white oak coffee table for The Hütte, our little home outside of Rhinebeck, New York. Both my partner and I have a love for Japanese and Nordic aesthetics and traveled in Japan and Scandinavia. Paul is a practicing architect in NYC and I’m a painter with a degree in Interior Architecture and studied furniture design and construction in college. For our home, we wanted to incorporate furnishings created in collaboration with local artisans. Max and Jordan Hoener’s ethos as makers, honoring the raw materials in the creation process with a strong commitment to sustainability, seemed like a great fit.
The silhouette of Hoener Farms’ formal dining bench was the starting point for the design. We sent along dimensions and photos of trestle-style table bases we loved from the Noguchi Museum in Queens. With a relaxed lifestyle and young grandchildren, we needed a piece sturdy enough to withstand feet up fire-gazing and toddler truck-play. The end product is truly a work of art with beautiful Japanese inspired joinery and handsomely aligned wood grains that flow through the vertical and horizontal surfaces. We are incredibly happy with Hoener Farms’ work and look forward to enjoying our table for years to come.
